FROM ABOVE

While visiting an archaeological site in Hallstatt, Austria, I encountered an exhibition that projected images of archaeologists onto the ceiling, creating the illusion that they were excavating the viewer below. This inversion of perspective—where the observer becomes the observed—had a profound impact on me. Inspired by the installation’s ability to reframe spatial relationships through overhead projection, I sought to incorporate a similar technique into my own work. Imagine being on a dance floor, looking up, and seeing two sensual figures moving above you on the ceiling. This piece was filmed in Dallas, Texas, in June 2025.
